So the dungeon
has a new layout, and is also under new management. Personally,
I liked it better the old way. Nonetheless, I still had a
pretty good time. Aurora open the show. A trio emo punk band
from the area, featuring Dan, drummer of One Short. They started
out OK. I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The singing bugged
me slightly. Reminded me of the Cure. They need more back
up vocals though, something to make their songs sound more
full. Other than that, they seemed to have a pretty solid
set, with some fairly half decent song writing skills.
Next up was
Blue Skies At War. Now I had never heard their stuff before.
But I always read about them. They looked pretty hardcore
when they walked into the room, and I could tell their music
was a serious issue. When they took the stage I was blown
away. I thought it was amazing. Hard double bass, fast guitar
riffs, played over a dancing bass. The vocals, now that's
in your face! I really wish I ended up taking one of their
cds home with me, but I will next time. And I hope next time
more of you come out, they do put on a great set.
Last but not
least, The Getaway. Toronto based aggressive pop punk band.
I've seen these guys a million times, and they always play
great. This time though, I just wasn't feeling the love. Maybe
it was because it was not a sold out show, infact, I didn't
see more than 30 kids there, and most of them left after Aurora's
set. Anyways, sometimes those shows are fun, you get your
own little private show it seems. Check out all these bands,
I would highly recommend them all.
